Without looking I bet this lot weren’t a bunch of white boys from the suburbs. It’s not the name (no, Jam fans, they ain’t paying tribute) but the way it drifts from soft jazz (You’re Out Now), to soft funky acoustic rhythms (I Feel Good), a Spanish guitar instrumental (Gardenia Park) and even foot-tapping guitar pop (Refugee Of Love). JamOnSunday are a mix of cultures from Barbados, India, Nigeria and, er, the South-east. And it shows. They aren’t easily pigeon-holed but there is a prevalence of acoustic jazz throughout. That’ll be the dude with the first class degree in jazz. The result is remarkably professional musicianship, production and even the sleeve is shop-ready quality.
